Valentine rescatado en Polonia

Rescate de un Valentine en el Varta (Polonia)

Se trata de un carro de combate Valentine Mk. IX fabricado en febrero de 1943 y proporcionado a Rusia gracias al Programa de Préstamo y Arriendo. El carro trataba de cruzar el helado río Varta en enero de 1945 pero su peso de 17 toneladas fue excesivo para la capa de hielo y terminó por hundirse en el barro del fondo. Esta en perfecto estado ya que no sufrió daños de combate y puede ser restaurado con facilidad. Pero este hallazgo va más allá ya que este tipo de carros fue retirado del orden de batalla soviético entre mediados y finales de 1944 siendo relegados a misiones de reconocimiento  y exploración.

Los Mk.IX entraron en servicio en 1942 y era apreciado por los soviéticos por su fiabilidad y diseño sencillo solicitándose más unidades. De este modo este carro continuó en las líneas de montaje en 1943 ya que de otro modo se hubiese paralizado su fabricación. En el siguiente listado podemos ver las formaciones que mantenían sus Valentine Mk. IX y, por tanto, candidatos a priori a que perteneciese a estas unidades este hallazgo:

This is a tank Valentine Mk. IX manufactured in February 1943 and provided to Russia through the Lend-Lease Program. The car was trying to cross the frozen river Varta in January 1945 but his weight of 17 tons was too much for the ice and eventually sink into the mud at the bottom. It is in perfect condition and suffered no battle damage and can be easily restored. But this finding goes further as this type of car was retired Soviet order of battle in mid to late 1944 being relegated to reconnaissance and exploration.

The Mk.IX entered service in 1942 and was appreciated by the Soviets for its reliability and simple design solicitándose more units. Thus this car continued on assembly lines in 1943 as would otherwise be paralyzed manufacture. In the following list we can see the formations that held their Valentine Mk.
