Expedición alemana en China


 La Deutsche Beraterschaft


Antes del estallido de la Primera Guerra Mundial Alemania mantuvo una Misión Militar en las lejanas tierras de China, allá por 1895. La Misión Militar alcanzó una importancia notoria en el Ejército chino que requerían a sus jefes a nivel de compañía que hablasen alemán. La Misión tuvo que suspenderse entre 1914 y 1924 debido a la Gran Guerra y no fue hasta 1925 cuando volvieron a tierras chinas. Junto con los asesores militares también llegó un contingente de asesores civiles.

Bajo el brazo los militares alemanes trataron de exportar su idea de un ejército reducido pero muy profesionalizado que se debería complementar con tropas milicianas sin embargo al Alto Mando chino no le convenció el nuevo sistema y fue desechado de plano. En Nanking se estableció una división modelo, con asesores alemanes y trasladado desde Wampoa, sobre la cual edificar un moderno ejército chino. La Deutsche Beraterschaft (Misión Militar alemana) contaba en 1933 con 50 oficiales abarcando áreas como administración, aviación, economía, policía, etc.

En 1935 se estableció una organización económica bajo la designación de HARPO (Handelsgesellschaft zur Verwertung industrieller Produkte) proporcionando a los chinos algunos blindados (junto con otro tipo de material militar como cañones anticarro, artillería, armas personales, etc.). Entre los blindados recibidos se encontraban PzKpfw I, Sd.Kfz 221, Sd.Kfz 222 y Sd.Kfz 223. A cambio Alemania recibía materias primas vitales. Estos no fueron los únicos vehículos extranjeros de todo tipo en llegar a China ya que Estados Unidos e Italia proporcionaron algunos aviones y Francia e Inglaterra en materia naval. 
 
Bajo presión japonesa en 1937, Alemania retiró su apoyo a China al año siguiente. En el tiempo que estuvo activa la Deutsche Beraterschaft entrenó a 8 divisiones de infantería.
