B-24D Liberator “Strawberry Bitch”

Sirvió con el 512nd Bomb Squadron del 376th Bomb Group de la 15th Air Force basada en Libia e Italia. Se cree que la figura femenina, originalmente, iba totalmente desnuda durante su servicio en la guerra y que la ropa fue añadida posteriormente a la pelirroja. El aparato se encuentra en el Air Force Museum de Ohio.

En mayo de 1959 el “Strawberry Bitch” fue revisado por completo y preparado para su exposición temporal en la Base Davis Monthan de la Fuerza Aérea, cerca de Tucson en Arizona. Para ello se restauró hasta su configuración que lució durante esos días, incluyendo la pintura del teatro de operaciones del Mediterráneo. Tras la exhibición el aparato fue trasladado hasta su emplazamiento en el museo de Ohio.

Served with the 512nd Bomb Squadron of the 376th Bomb Group of the 15th Air Force based in Libya and Italy. It is believed that the female figure, originally, was totally naked while serving in the war and that the clothing was later added to the redhead. The device is in the Air Force Museum in Ohio.

In May 1959 the "Strawberry Bitch" was completely revised and prepared for temporary exhibition in the Base Davis Monthan Air Force, near Tucson, Arizona. This configuration was restored until she wore during those days, including the painting of the Mediterranean theater. After the show the unit was moved to its location in the museum in Ohio.
