PzKpfw I Ausf F


El PzKpfw I Ausf F fue el último intento de modernizar al pequeño veterano de la Panzerwaffe. Entre abril y diciembre de 1942 se completaron un total de 30 vehículos por la empresa Krauss-Maffei. En 1943 vieron acción en el Frente Oriental ya que estaban distribuidos en la 1º y 12º Panzerdivision.

1º Panzerdivision.
La unidad se encontraba en la zona de Rzhev (Frente Oriental) hasta finales de 1942 cuando fue retirada a Francia para un periodo de descanso y rearme. Regresó al frente ruso entre enero y febrero del año siguiente. Durante este periodo recibió un lote de 8 PzKpfw I Ausf F y 2 PzKpfw I Ausf C de reconocimiento con el objetivo de probarlos en combate. En junio de 1943 la división se desplegó en la región de los Balcanes y luego en Grecia para garantizar la defensa costera. Allí permaneció hasta octubre cuando recibió de nuevo la orden de regresar al Frente Oriental, traslado que se completaría en noviembre de ese mismo año. Ya en territorio ruso participó en la defensa de Ucrania contra las continuas ofensivas soviéticas sobre todo en las batallas defensivas contra el avance soviético al oeste de Kiev.

12º Panzerdivision.
La división fue transferida al Grupo de Ejércitos Centro en noviembre de 1942. Fue durante este periodo, antes de entrar en acción de nuevo en marzo de 1943, cuando recibió un lote de los nuevos PzKpfw I Ausf F. Estos nuevos vehículos fueron agregados al mando del Regimiento Panzer y utilizados para apoyar a los Panzergrenadiers dependiendo de las distintas situaciones.

12th Panzer Division.
The division was transferred to Army Group Centre in November 1942. It was during this period before going into action again in March 1943, when he received a batch of new PzKpfw I Ausf F. These new vehicles were added to the command Panzer Regiment and used to support Panzergrenadiers depending on different situations.
