English version

Hitler preferences were heading towards a double mount 37 mm air defense however was not available thus resorted to a team quad 20 mm. The 38 Flakpanzer defensive fire proved insufficient against the onslaught of Allied fighter-bombers as the increased caliber anti-aircraft gun was not feasible at the moment we chose to use a larger frame. The solution adopted was the Panzer IV to be mounting a 20 mm Flakvierling 38 or 37mm Flak 43.

The frame chosen was the Ausf H and J that reached the autumn of 1943 units. The result was the Flakpanzer IV "Möbelwagen" (moving truck, so nicknamed because of its appearance) anti-aircraft armored vehicle. The FlakPz IV was designed to use two types of weapons but lighter gun, Flak 38 20 mm, only prototype evaluation mounted and from January 1944 we opted for heavier armament, the Flak 43 of 37 mm.

However, the system proved to be very uncomfortable hindered its operational use due to its configuration. On the frame of the PzKpfw IV was the Flak 43 protected by a shielded box consisting of four skirts. These should be lowered to facilitate the firing of cannon crew being exposed to enemy fire. The set was considered a temporary solution though which served until the end of the war. The FlakPz IV "Möbelwagen" was in the assembly for one year completing a total of 240 units armed with Flak 43 and 6 armed with 20mm Flak 38.
