StuG IV hallado en Polonia. Controversia

English version

In 1945 two StuG IV assault guns tried to cross the river, you did it but the other ended at the river bottom. Two of his crew died in the accident and found their bodies in the spring. The rest of the crew ended up in the nearby house of a local farmer, soaked and asking for a little food and water. A few hours later they were caught by Soviet soldiers and were killed on the spot when taken by soldiers of the SS (because his uniform was black).

In the early 50's the Russians tried to rescue the car from the bottom, covered with mud (at this point coincides with the history of the "other" rescued Poland StuG IV) using two T-34 tanks and a crane rail but attempts to remove it failed. Then he thought of the idea blast but was fortunately abandoned.

Another attempt took place on August 29 but failed and the search and rescue team found only a wheel tread and lower parts of the vehicle causing a bittersweet feeling in the team.

Nearly a month later, on September 28th, we started again with the work, now with the invaluable participation of water pumps to get rid of (at this point also coincides with the images of the recovery of Grzegorz Lipiec StuG IV) plus to have an improved plan for the rescue. However this did not prevent the work of extraction tore the superstructure and would damage the weapon. The superstructure was already badly damaged and almost ripped off because of work "indelicate" in the 50's.

The vehicle is marked with the tactical number 981 and probably belonged to the Brandenburg Division, 9 th or 10 th Batallion of the 3rd Kompanie of Spielvogel. In January 1945 the unit had received some StuG IV assault guns removed along with the rest of the drive west on the same route.

Finally, the StuG IV as a whole (another point that suggests that it is the same vehicle) was transferred to the Military Museum in Poznan for restoration. The main problem between the two cases are the dates given for his recovery, while the rescued Grzegorz Lipiec dates from 2008, the sources frame the rescue of this in 2006 ... we are talking about the same vehicle?

However in the final images of its restoration is seen something strange as it seems as if the vehicle is missing a part of his back, however, the whole frame was recovered.
