Cazacarros italianos.

English version

The Italian armored gun did not stand over the war for its technical innovations and tactics. Yet they were at the forefront in the development of tank destroyers in the late decade of the 30. It was during this period of time when L3 was manufactured Semovente da 47/32 anti-tank riding a piece of 47 mm and 32 gauge on the frame of an L3. The weapon was coupled to a site open only protected by anti-tank shield himself. Protecting your endowment was poor and only 283 units were manufactured.

In 1940 war broke out in Italy and soon realized that armored forces were poorly armed, poorly armored and light trucks dominance over the rest. This was evident in L6/40 clashes with British tanks in the stands did not go well so that was thought to change it into a tank destroyers like the L3. With this project in mind was asked to Fiat-Ansaldo SPA and working on the final design of the vehicle.

German L40

The anti-tank gun was an excellent version of the Austrian cannon 47 mm Böhler offering good performance. The new vehicle was designated as L40 da 47/32 Semovente riding the piece on the frame, offset to the left protected by a locked box on four sides and no roof, with a capacity of 70 rounds. This new vehicle will go into production from 1942 completing 280 copies that proved very effective against the British light tanks in the desert.

After the Italian armistice in 1943 the L40 Semovente went to German control in their units including fighting in Italy. The very geography of the Italian peninsula handed tactics to develop where the media had little armored presence of so many of these cars were used as forward command posts equipped with a machine gun 8 mm Breda m.38 instead of your gun .

The Italian armored gun showed rapid adaptation to changing times with more will than means and clearly showed their limited productive capacity owned.
