Sd.Kfz 251/7

English version

The Sd.Kfz 251/7 Pionierpanzerwagen was a light armored vehicle intended for the use of assault engineers. The production vehicle was modified to suit the special needs of the sappers. The most significant modification was the addition of a bridge assault 6 tons in two parts on the hull of the vehicle. It also had extra fuel capacity, harnesses and ropes, warps and other tools needed for their work. The vehicle was also used to transport equipment and other munitions to frontline units.

The Sd.Kfz 251/7 came to replace Sd.Kfz 251/5 when it entered service in mid-1942 by adding more internal capacity and a team of more powerful radio. The vehicles were assembled by the company Wesserhütte completing a total of 2,000 units between 1940 and 1945. Many of these ended up serving for Sd.Kfz 251/7 units Headquarters for their radios.
