Einheits-Pkw Kfz.2
Después de 1933 Alemania comenzó
a construir abiertamente un ejército moderno y para ello necesitaba un nivel de
mecanización elevado para sus unidades. De manera amplia estos vehículos se
dividieron en tres categorías; ligeros, medios y pesados. Todos ellos debían
contar con tracción a las cuatro ruedas, suspensión independiente y un chasis
abierto y lo más simplificado posible.
El Kfz.2 (leichten Gelände Einheits Personen
Kraftwagen)
era un coche ligero todo terreno fabricado por Stoewer,
BMW y Hanomag a partir del año 1936. Desde 1940 hasta 1943 fue la empresa Stoewer la
encargada de fabricar un modelo simplificado denominado Type 40 que no contaba
con dirección en las ruedas traseras. En total se fabricaron 13.000 vehículos
de este tipo, entre el básico y el simplificado. También se fabricaron
vehículos destinados para el mando, equipados con radios y con tres asientos.

The Kfz.2 (leichten Gelände Einheits Kraftwagen Personen) was a lightweight all-terrain Stoewer manufactured by BMW and Hanomag since 1936. From 1940-1943 Stoewer car company was responsible for making a simplified model called the Type 40 not had rear wheel steering. In total 13,000 such vehicles were manufactured between basic and simplified. Vehicles used for command, equipped with radios and three seats were also made.
